This year I have done quite a bit of research on the best ways to advertise my photography business and get my name out to potential clients. While word-of-mouth will probably always be my best and most reliable source of advertisement, I want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to effectively put myself out there. There are many opinions on this subject available in cyberland, but finally, I ran across a forum where someone asked my same question and someone else responded with another question, “When you are in need of a specific service, what do YOU do?” The answer to that for me and nearly anyone else I know is one of two things: 1. Ask friends, or 2. Ask Google. So, I decided against spending money on any sort of advertisements (for now) and I figured out how to get my business to show up on Google. I didn’t think it could be done without a physical address – I thought that no studio meant no address for Google – but that’s not true. When you create a My Business listing, you can select “I deliver goods and services to my customers at their location” if your business does not have a storefront. (More info here) So now, when someone searches for a photographer in St. Joseph, Michigan, Lydia Woosley Photography will show up on the list! Am I boring you? This was a pretty big deal for me!
And that leads me to Whytne’s Senior portraits! This was my very first session booked because of a Google search! I’ll be in my kitchen, doing a little dance while you check out these photos.
