Frequently Asked Questions

Do you shoot weddings?

No, I do not shoot weddings. I have in the past and I enjoy them very much, but in my constant search for balance as an entrepreneur and mother, I have come to the conclusion that weddings are not a good fit for me at this time.

What is your favorite thing to photograph?

People! I love photographing people. Every type of session I offer, I thoroughly enjoy! (That’s not by accident.) But to narrow it down, my absolute favorite is Dancers! Dance is and always has been my first love; and to merge that with the art of photography is like a dream.

What gear do you own?

Digital Cameras: Canon 5D Mark II and  Fujifilm X100T
Lenses: Canon 50mm f/1.4, 17-40mm f/4, 85mm f/1.8, 70-200mm f/2.8
Flash: 2 Yongnuo YN600EX-RT Speedlites and 1 Transmitter
Film Cameras: Canon AE-1 (1979) and Kodak Duaflex III
Other: 10 x 12 ft Backdrop stand,  107″ Seamless Background Paper (Gray),  53″ Seamless Background Paper (Black), Octagonal Umbrella Softbox, White Translucent Umbrella, Bounce Umbrella, 5-in-1 Collapsible Reflector Disc, Ring Flash Attachment,  and Various Tripods

What editing software do you use?

Lightroom and Photoshop. (Mostly Lightroom)

Do you have a studio?

No. (Though that would be nice sometimes.) Most of my sessions are done on location and I do all my post process editing at home. When I need to set up a backdrop and lights, I do so in my basement. It’s not creepy! I promise!

How do you do it? How do you juggle 3 kids, and still manage to run a business?

I’m not gonna lie… I often (I constantly) doubt whether or not I’m capable of doing this. I am not a business person, by nature, and I feel inferior to anyone who seems to know what they are doing. Add on the fact that I’m a mom before photographer with no family within a thousand miles to help. But this is something I really want, and I refuse to allow doubt, fear of failure, and “it’s too hard” to hold me back anymore. When I feel completely overwhelmed and doubt my own competence, my motto is “head down, move forward”.
